Trivia

    Album

  • This film saw five debuts - those of music director Shankar - Jaikishan, and lyricists Shailendra, Hasrat Jaipuri, Ramesh Shastri and Jalal Malihabadi.
  • Not wanting to sell his poetry, lyricist Shailendra had turned down Raj Kapoor's offer for his previous film "Aag" (1948). Later when Shailendra's wife developed a medical complication, he approached Raj Kapoor for financial assistance and got Rs. 500 from him. When Shailendra went Raj Kapoor to return the loan, Raj Kapoor refused the money and asked him to give him two songs instead. It was in these circumstances that Shailendra made his film debut.[1]
  • A scene from this 1949 film, featuring Raj Kapoor with a violin in one hand and cradling Nargis in another, went on to become an intrinsic part of R.K. Films as it came to be used for the banner's logo.
