Trivia

    Album

  • This was Waheeda Rehman's debut Hindi film. She had acted in Telugu and Tamil films prior to this.

    Song

  • Yeh Hai Bombay Meri Jaan (Aye Dil Hai Mushkil Jeena Yahaan) - This song is based on the American folk song, Oh My Darling Clementine.[MR4]
  • Ankhon Hi Ankhon Mein Ishara Ho Gaya - The violin solo in this song composed by O.P. Nayyar sounds similar to the violin solo in the introduction of an R.C. Boral song - "Mast Pawan Shaakhen Lahrayen" ("Haar Jeet", 1940).[1]
  • Jaata Kahan Hai Diwane - This song was filmed on Waheeda Rehman but was removed in the final version of the film because of objection from the Censor Board. While there is a theory that the objectionable word was "Fifi", Waheeda Rehman clarified in an interview that it was the line "Sab Kuch Yahan Hai Sanam" that the Censor Board found objectionable.[2]
  • Jaata Kahan Hai Diwane - This song was covered by composer Mikey McCleary and sung by Suman Sridhar for the film "Bombay Velvet" (2015). Mikey McCleary had earlier used the same song for Coke's Diwali 2010 ad.[3]
  • Kahin Pe Nigahen Kahin Pe Nishana - Waheeda Rehman earned the reputation of being difficult to work with in her very first Hindi film (she had debuted in Telugu films earlier), when she refused to wear the costume that was planned for this song. After arguments with director Raj Khosla, producer-actor Guru Dutt intervened and Waheeda eventually wore a different dress.[MR4]
