Trivia

    Song

  • O Maria - The mukhda of this song is an adaptation of the song "Mamunia" by Paul McCartney's band Wings. "Mamunia", written by Paul and Linda McCartney, first appeared in the album "Band On The Run" (1973).[1]
  • Saagar Kinare Dil Yeh Pukare - R.D. Burman re-used portions of the tune of "Hamen Raaston Ki Zaroorat Nahin Hai" ("Naram Garam", 1981) in this song. He also re-used some portions of "Hamen Raaston Ki Zaroorat Nahin Hai" in the title song of "Agar Tum Na Hote" (1983). "Hamen Raaston Ki Zaroorat Nahin Hai" itself had predecessors in Bollywood - "Thandi Hawayen" ("Naujawan", 1951), "Tera Dil Kahan Hai Sab Kuch Yahan Hai" ("Chandni Chowk", 1954), "Yehi Hai Tamanna Tere Dar Ke Samne" ("Aap Ki Parchhaiyan", 1964) and "Rahen Na Rahen Hum" ("Mamta", 1966).
  • Saagar Jaisi Aankhon Wali - R.D. Burman had given the tune for this song to Javed Akhtar but Akhtar could not write lyrics that fit the metre of the song and ended up writing the lyrics anyway. When he told Pancham about this, Pancham asked him to read out the lyrics to him and wrote it down as he did so. Pancham had already finished composing to these lyrics by the time he finished writing. Much to Akhtar's amazement, he started singing the song as soon as he finished writing the lyrics.
