Trivia

    Album

  • This album became the first Gold Disc of India even before the release of the film.
  • Raj Kapoor had first asked Hridaynath Mangeshkar to compose music for this film but later changed his mind and decided to get Laxmikant - Pyarelal to compose the film's music. This resulted in arguments between Raj Kapoor and Lata Mangeshkar. She almost walked out of the film but eventually agreed to sing on her brother's counsel.[MR7]

    Song

  • Satyam Shivam Sundaram - Laxmikant - Pyarelal had agreed to use a certain veena player for this song, based on Raj Kapoor's commitment to the player. When they realized that the veena player wasn't quite capable, they decided to restrict the usage of the instrument in the song.[1]
