Meerabai (c. 1498 – c. 1547AD) was a prominent figure in the Hindu Bhakti Movement. She was a Lord Krishna devotee and mystical singer of aristocratic origin. She was born as a Rajput princess in Kudki, Rajasthan to Ratan Singh Rathore, a warrior. She considered herself to be a reincarnation of a gopi, madly in love with Krishna. Legend has it that she was absorbed by the Lord Krishna deity at Dwarka in full view of a crowd of onlookers.
