It was in this song that a meend (continuous notes) was played on a santoor the first time. The player was Pandit Ulhas Bapat. Bapat had demoed this style of playing the santoor to R.D. Burman while riding in his car. Burman was so impressed that he wanted this style included for his composition. The meend can be heard in the interlude after the mukhda and between the two antaras. Pancham included Bapat's santoor meend in several songs after this including "Mera Kuch Saaman" ("Ijaazat", 1987).
